Why Tint Your Vehicle?
Automotive window film can improve comfort, appearance, and day-to-day driving experience.
Appearance & Privacy
Tint can give a vehicle a cleaner, more finished appearance while adding privacy for passengers and belongings.
Glare & Comfort
Window film can help reduce glare from sunlight and bright conditions, making driving and riding more comfortable.
Heat & UV Protection
Depending on the film selected, window tint can help with heat rejection and reduce UV exposure through the glass.
Booking Appointments
Appointments are made by phone or in person only. They are not booked by email, Facebook, text message, or similar messaging.
Random same-day visits may occasionally be possible, but this is rare. During slower winter periods, several days’ notice may be required. During the summer season, several weeks’ notice may be required.
In-shop visits are welcome, but Niagara Tinting may be away from the shop performing residential or commercial tinting work. It is best to call ahead before visiting.
During the day, it is not always possible to answer the phone. You may need to leave a message or call back. Email or website messages may be used for callback requests, but during peak season it may take several days to return a callback inquiry.
Important Water Disclaimer
The window tinting process involves water being applied to the interior of the vehicle. Customers must remove all items that could be damaged by accidental exposure to water.
Niagara Tinting will not accept liability for water damage to vehicle electronics, aftermarket electronic devices, documents, books, stereo equipment, personal belongings, or other items left in the vehicle.
Before Your Appointment
A clean, accessible vehicle helps the installation go more smoothly and reduces the risk of delays or preventable issues.
Vehicle Preparation
- Remove personal belongings from areas where work will be performed.
- Remove baby seats, tools, loose items, and other objects that block access to the glass.
- Remove items from the trunk where water may drip into storage areas.
- Interiors should be reasonably clean and free of animal hair, food, dirt, and loose debris.
- Do not detail the vehicle immediately before tinting if chemicals may repel water.
Vehicle Condition
- All moving windows should operate properly.
- Non-working windows can sometimes be tinted, but may not look professional once operation is restored.
- Aftermarket electronic devices should be removed because they are at risk during the tinting process.
- Uncommon vehicles may require a pre-visit before booking.
- Prior tint removal or decal removal may require extra time and carries additional risk.
Arriving for Your Appointment
Arriving about 15 minutes before your appointment usually works well. When arriving at the shop, park at the front of the building and enter through the front door.
Early morning or night-before drop-off may be possible if prearranged. If dropping off outside normal timing, park at the front of the building and use the front mail slot for keys only when this has been arranged in advance.
Extra parking is available at the rear of the building if needed.
Waiting and Watching
The installation area is open concept, and customers may watch the process if they wish. There is also a waiting area.
Window tinting is a precision process, so distractions to the installer should be kept to a minimum.
Payment Methods
Niagara Tinting accepts cash, cheques from trusted businesses, debit, Visa, MasterCard, and American Express.
Wireless payment options are now available.
Gift Certificates
Gift certificates are available.
Legal Use and Customer Responsibility
Ontario’s window tinting rules are subjective. Vehicles are not supposed to have aftermarket film on windshields, although a strip across the top is generally allowed.
Front doors are generally allowed to have 35% VLT film applied. Rear windows do not have the same darkness limits. Requests that exceed these guidelines may increase the risk of law enforcement attention. The customer is responsible for those requests.
Niagara Tinting does not tint full windshields other than a strip across the top.
Specific Vehicle and Service Policies
Some vehicles and services require special handling, limitations, or customer awareness before booking.
Vehicle-Specific Notes
- Audi A8: the rear seat must be removed by the owner before tinting.
- Audi 2018+ A7: Niagara Tinting does not accept responsibility if the rear glass breakage sensor is damaged during film installation.
- Tesla Model 3: only the lower clear section of the back window is tinted. The back window is laminated glass, and Niagara Tinting does not accept responsibility if it cracks.
- Lexus 2018–2019 NX300H and NX300: front doors are not tinted because they have a clear factory UV/IR coating.
Service Limitations
- Old film and decal removal from rear glass carries a risk of damaging defroster lines.
- Niagara Tinting does not accept responsibility for rear defroster-line damage caused during film or decal removal.
- Niagara Tinting only tints glass.
- Taillights, headlights, motorcycle windscreens, paint-protection film, and accessories are not tinted or installed.
Drying Time After Tinting
Water remains trapped between the film and glass for many days after installation.
During the warm season, do not roll the windows down for at least 24 hours. During the cold season, the safe waiting period may be several days, and in some cases a week or more.
Experience Matters
Automotive window tinting is not only about applying film. The quality of the final result depends on preparation, film handling, glass condition, installation technique, and realistic communication with the customer.

Niagara Tinting has decades of practical experience working with a wide range of vehicles and glass situations.
