To help that your tinting experience goes smoothly, here are some pointers.

  • Don’t make important scheduling plans anticipating your vehicle will be started and completed on time. You are receiving a service, not a product. Unforeseen events can lead to delays.
  • Cleaning your vehicle is good. Detailing it is not advised. Any chemical that repels water is detrimental to the window tinting process.
  • Interiors should be clean, no animal hair, food stuffs, dirt etc.
  • Tinting windows requires access to the interior of the glass, objects like baby seats, tools, etc. need to be removed.
  • Aftermarket electronic devices need to be removed. They are at risk of being damaged during the tinting process.
  • Items need to be removed from the trunk. Water may drip down into these storage area. This can cause damage to items like books, documents, and aftermarket stereo equipment.
  • All windows that were designed to move need to work. Non-working windows can be tinted. However, they may not look professional when their operation is restored.

Generally, these items are checked by staff before installation begins. However, the owner must ensure the vehicle is empty of items not original to its manufacture.

Booking appointments. Although sometimes its possible to randomly visit and spontaneously have your vehicle tinted, this rarely happens. Our services are in high demand. Several days notice are usually required during off-peak periods (winter). During summer months, several weeks notice are required.

In shop visits are always welcomed. Please keep in mind that sometimes we are out tinting residential and commercial windows, and the shop may be closed. It’s best to confirm this is not the case for when you decide to visit.

Appointments are made in person or by phone only (not by email, Facebook or text message etc.). During the course of the day, it’s not always possible to answer the phone. You may have to leave a message or call back. Conversations with shop visitors take precedent over phone calls. If you like, an email (info@niagaratinting.com) or comments via the website work for call back requests. Unfortunately, during our peak season, it may take several days to return a callback inquiry. We keep the call back requests in queue. If you think we missed returning your call, you’re welcome to contact us again.

Arriving for your appointment. You may arrival as early as you like for an appointment. If you drop off a vehicle early in the morning or the night before, park it at the front of the building. There is a mail slot in the front of the building to drop keys off. This process needs to be prearranged. Generally arriving 15 min before your appointment works fine. When arriving at the shop, park at the front of the building. Enter through the front door. If this is not possible, extra parking is located at the rear of the building. The installation working area is an open concept design. You can watch the process if you wish. There is a waiting area. Just keep in mind that it is a precision process. Distractions to the installer should be kept to a minimum.

Payments. We accept cash, cheques (trusted businesses), Debt, Visa, MasterCard, and Amex. We do not have wireless payment options.

We have Gift Certificates.

Film types. We now use Xpel colour stable films for automotive applications. They come in three shades 35% Visible Light Transmission (vlt) (light), 20% vlt (medium) and 05% vlt (dark). All come with Lifetime warranties. We do not use ceramic films.

There are some specific policies relating to certain vehicles and services as mentioned below.

  • Audi A8 – the rear seat needs to be removed by owner before tinting
  • Audi 2018+ A7 – we will not accept responsibility if rear glass breakage sensor is damaged during film installation process.
  • Tesla Model 3 – only the lower clear section of the back window is tinted. The back window is laminated glass and we will not accept responsibility if it cracks for whatever reason.
  • Lexus 2018-2019 Models NX300H and NX300 – we do not tint the front doors. They have a clear UV/IR coating factory preinstalled.
  • All vehicles – We do our best to avoid this. In practice, it is extremely rare. Removing old window tint and decals from the back window involves an inherent risk. The defroster lines may get damaged. We do not accept responsibility if the rear glass defroster lines are damaged. This can occur during the film removal process or by the removal of interior decals.
  • We only tint glass. We do not tint taillights, headlights, or motorcycle windscreens. These are best brought to a shop that does car wrapping. We also do not install paint protect films or any accessories.
  • Uncommon vehicles may need to pre-visit before booking.
  • We do not tint windshields other than a strip across the top. It is very illegal and the water dripping into the electronics under the dash risks electrical damage to the vehicle.

Legal use. Ontario has subjective window tinting rules. Vehicles are not supposed to have aftermarket film on windshields. However, a strip is generally allowed across the top. Front doors are generally allowed to have 35% vlt film applied to them. There are no limits to the darkness allowed on rear windows. Requests exceeding these guidelines run the risk of harassment by law enforcement authorities. The customer is solely responsible for these requests.

Drying time. Water will stay trapped between the film and glass for many days. During the warm season, you should not roll the windows down for 24 hrs. During the cold season this time will be many days if not a week or more.
